<p><strong>The Healthy Diet Manifesto</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Everyone is on a diet. Healthy dieters choose a diet that will bring them closer to their life goals. <br /></strong><br />Diet is a not dirty word. You are on a diet every day, and making it a healthy diet is not as challenging as you may think. It is not about starvation. It is not about being deprived. It is about being able to breathe in your jeans. Even more than that, it is about living your best life. It is about having integrity in your actions. </p>
<p><strong>2. Healthy dieters intentionally plan their diets.</strong></p>
<p>Without intention and planning, most people will eat what theyâve always eaten; whatever is convenient; whatever is marketed to themâjust like the rest of society. Unless you want to look like the rest of society looks and want the body you currently have (or the one youâll have after the next five pounds, or the next . . .), then you canât continue to eat like the rest of society eats, and you certainly canât continue to eat what youâve always eaten. Instead, you must deliberately plan and pursue a healthy diet.</p>
<p><strong>3. Healthy dieters donât make excuses.</strong></p>
<p>There is no one-size-fits-all diet. There are untold ways to cut calories, get more exercise, and improve the healthfulness of our diet. It is important not to argue for what you canât do, but instead search for what you are willing to do to achieve a healthy diet that fits your life and goals.</p>
<p><strong>4. Healthy dieters donât whine about the effort it takes to eat a healthful diet and are willing to spend time planning and preparing.</strong></p>
<p>Dieting is hard. Dieting is easy. Either of these could be true, depending on your attitude. The truth of the matter is, dieting just is. Ever since Eve plucked the apple from the tree, the cavewoman rubbed sticks together to roast the bear, grandma strung a string bean, the Irish boiled the potato, or the Koreans pickled a cabbage, weâve had to put effort into having a healthy diet. <p><strong>5. Healthy dieters base their diets around a weekly planning routine.</strong></p>
<p>Diets are not a one-time decision. Just as soon as you get comfortable in your routine, youâll remodel your kitchen, go on vacation, sprain an ankle, hit hormone hell, or simply get bored. <p>As babies, the first comfort you received was at the breast or bottle. You are hardwired to eat for comfort. You also eat to socialize, to procrastinate, and out of pure habit. There are a myriad of reasons for eating that go far beyond nutrition. Sorting those out, exploring alternatives, and finding ways to enjoy a healthy diet for any of these reasonsâwithout sabotaging your health and well-beingâis an interesting process.</p>

I know people will say that I shouldn&#8217;t want to take diet pills if I am already at a healthy weight. 2 years ago I quit smoking, I ended up gaining 10 lbs. I have been trying for 2 years to lose those 10 lbs but I can&#8217;t do it. I would like a diet pill that doesn&#8217;t make me jittery and one that is safe for me to take even though I&#8217;m not overweight. Thanks for all suggestions!</p>

<p><strong>Liquid Diets and Losing Weight Fast</strong></p>
<p>Fad diets come and go with popularity.  A fad diet comes in many forms from severe dietary restriction, to pills or other potions.  Fad diets usually restrict one group over another or contain no solid food at all.  Liquid diets promote losing weight fast, but can they be notionally sound?</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
The only reason someone should be on a liquid diet is when a physician prescribes it.  Many gastrointestinal diagnostic tests require a person to be on a liquid diet for a short duration.  Certainly, a person with a broken jaw could eat nothing but liquids.  There may be other dental reasons when someone is placed on a liquid diet for a short term.  These diets are short term and medically managed.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
There is a distinction between a clear liquid and a full liquid diet.  Clear liquid diets include foods you can literally see through or turn into clear liquid once melted, some of these include: jell, popsicles, apple juice, broth, grapefruit juice and water.  A full liquid diet includes the above plus dairy products, shakes, creamy soups, cereals and pudding. These diets are generally used under medical supervision for diagnostic testing or for recovery from surgery.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
There are liquid diet programs on the market that proclaim they are nutritionally sound, healthy, can take weight off fast and help you develop a new healthy relationship with food.  You could lose weight quickly on a liquid diet but skepticism remains.  The diet will probably not deliver all its promises.  </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
One summational liquid diet claims to be physician recommended.  This diet contains calorie restriction, high protein, low fat and low carbs.  It turns out the doctor only recommends it for medical purposes.  Everyone should stay away from fad diets, but especially people who have diabetes, heart disease or other medical problems.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
This is a primary example of a fad diet, restricting solid food for liquid concoctions.  This type of diet has a high drop out rate.  It would become pretty boring eating soups, juice and shakes for every all day. Again, the only valid reason to go on this type if diet is because your doctor has prescribed it for you.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Most liquid diets are not just liquid.  Some of them use replacement shakes for two meals and allow a small dinner.  One of these liquid formula diets was recently taken off the market because of its side effects.  It is e dangerous to place your hope of losing weight fast on a liquid diet.  Some of these diet products can cause headaches, stomach aches and other gastrointestinal side effects.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
You can damage your metabolism with fad diets like these.  Your metabolism will slow down when it does not get many calories.  When you return to your normal diet, your weight will return quickly because your metabolism is sluggish.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Side effects of a high protein liquid diet include constipation, low blood pressure, and calcium imbalance.  People that need to lose a substantial amount of weight stay on these fad diets way too long and that can cause severe nutritional deficiencies.  According to (APA) American Psychological Society, when people lose five to ten percent of their weight in the first few months,  they will gain two thirds and more of it back within four to five years.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
When you choose a diet plan you want the weight loss to be permanent. The only this will happen is to go on a well balanced diet with no less that 1200 calories a day and incorporate exercise in to you lifestyle.  Losing weight gradually and eating well will make you feel so good that you will want to maintain these habits for life.</p>

My doctor is recommending that I start a high protein, low calorie diet. I&#8217;m planning on purchasing the shakes and bars to be able to help me follow this diet closely. Does anyone have any suggestions for either the shakes or the bars?</p>
